virtual aquapolis

Virtual Aquapolis is an interactive VR project that invites users to explore the past, present and future of New York Harbor from beneath the surface of the water.  Chronicling the harbor as a site of radical change - from indigenous fishing area to industrial dumping site to Superfund sites, with shorelines once advanced by development and now in retreat from sea-level rise - viewers will consider how human culture, values and practices have altered the harbor’s underwater ecosystems, and how the natural world below has shaped the city above.
